A decade ago meme cultureon the internet was hardly even a thing. There were memes, stepmom sex videos sure, but the collective internet didn't meme events as constantly and ruthlessly.
In 2013, when the last NCAA Footballvideo game was released, Doge and Grumpy Cat were the hottest memes around. But now EA Sports' College Football '25is set to be released this week and it's already inspiring tons of great, and modern, memes.
The game has been long awaited. EA stopped making it all those years ago due to legal issues surrounding NCAA rules, but, now that players can be paid for their likeness, the game is back. And, as Mashable covered in depth, it is a huge deal for a generation of gamers who loved the franchise.
That sort of passion led to good jokes. One genre was thanking NCAA '14, the last iteration of the game, for its decade of service to college football gamers.

There were also jokes about the sheer excitement folks are feeling about having this game back in their lives. For a certain demographic, it's the biggest piece of media to drop in a long time.
