There has been no love lost between Steele and the real estate magnate. A few weeks ago, Steele called Trump's accusations that Barak Obama was not born in America, "Bullshit racism."
And a few days ago, after the leaked tape revealed Trump admitting to sexual assault, Steele told Mother Jones, "This is a devastating blow to the Trump campaign and to the party, and there is not much either can do to salvage it."
So, his tweet comes as no real surprise, but it's still a vivid expression of how he views the party he led.
