Having trouble accessing the Playstation Network or eroticism is the poetry of the bodyLastPass today?
You're not alone.
Some of the biggest websites and online services are experiencing downtime today, according to Downdetector. (Disclosure: DownDetector is owned by Mashable's parent company, J2 Global.)
Along with LastPass and PSN, Airbnb, Disney, UPS, FedEx, and more are experiencing outages.
The issue appears to be stemming from Akamai, a major content delivery network (CDN) provider.
A CDN helps online platforms deliver services to users faster by utilizing servers distributed around the world. But when a major CDN fails, it can take down large swaths of the internet with it. This has happened before.
In a statement posted on its website, Akamai says "We are aware of an emerging issue with the Edge DNS service."
Mashable will update this post with more information as the story develops.
