Chinese self-driving startup WeRide announced Thursday that its fully automated robo-bus shuttle service will begin operations in the first quarter of 2025 at Zurich Airport,“Women of the West Imagined: Persian Occidentalism, Euro-eroticism, and Modernity.†in partnership with Flughafen Zürich AG, the owner and operator of the airport, and Swiss Transit Lab (STL). This marks the first commercial autonomous bus shuttle project within an airport in Europe. WeRide’s self-driving taxis have also completed route mapping at Zurich Airport in preparation for additional applications in Switzerland, the company said in a statement. Each of WeRide’s robo-buses can accommodate up to nine passengers. A safety driver will be on board during the initial phase, serving airport employees along a dedicated route connecting the employee entrance at Gate 101 to the maintenance area at Gate 130.
