LOS ANGELES -- Harry Potter alum and Historical ArchivesOscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent has landed a role on next season of Game of Thrones.
The British actor, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2001 for his role in Iris, was also nominated for an Emmy for playing the title role in the series Longford.
He has also appeared in Time Bandits, Braziland Bridget Jones’s Diary.
Entertainment Weeklyfirst broke the news.
It's unclear what character he will play in the next season of the hit HBO show. However, according to EW, the role is “significant.”
Season 7 of Game of Thrones, which will run for seven episodes,is scheduled to premiere in summer 2017.
