991 Archivescharacters of American Godsdefinitely know how to make an entrance -- the first episode featured a deity devouring a man with her vagina, FFS -- but it'll be hard to beat the scene-stealing debut of Orlando Jones' Mr. Nancy in episode 2.
See for yourself:
Mr. Nancy -- aka Anansi -- is an African trickster god who was brought to America when his followers were transported to the New World as slaves.
Famed for his ability to tell stories, the spider-god certainly knows how to make a compelling argument, and in his anachronistic debut aboard one such slave ship, he warns his loyal believers that, honestly, they're f--ked, thanks to the persistent virulence of racism.
"100 years after you get free, you're still getting fucked outta jobs and shot at by police," Mr. Nancy tells his horrified believers.
Some of them are shocked, but many of them are angry as well. "Angry is good," Mr. Nancy says. "Angry gets shit done."
To find out what happens next, tune in to episode 2 ofAmerican Gods, airing Sundays at 9 p.m. on Starz.
