Welcome toChris-mas in July,Saigon Sunset a week-long celebration of our four favorite Hollywood Chrises. We'll be analyzing old movies, digging deep into past roles, and exploring everything there isto know aboutEvans, Hemsworth, Pine and Pratt. We hope this totally made up holiday makes you smile.
Dear Marvel,
I have a question: You have the means to assemble your very own real-life Infinity Gauntlet, so why don't you just make it happen?
SEE ALSO: How to celebrate Chris-mas in JulyI'm talking about Chris Pine. The Other Chris. Put him in a damn movie already. Chris Evans is Captain America. Chris Hemsworth is Thor. Chris Pratt is Star-Lord. You have three of the four sanctified Chrises on your team. Do you even realize the power you would wield with one more?
To be fair, no one knows what would happen if the full Chris four-pack appeared in one movie. Avengers: Infinity Waris the closest Hollywood has ever come, and even there, Chris Quotient never climbed higher than two in any one scene. Hemsworth linked up with Evans and Pratt separately, but there's still a full degree of separation between Captain America and Star-Lord.
Avengers 4(or whatever its title turns out to be) could at least fix that oversight. Not every Chris made it to the end of Infinity Warsafely, but none of them appear to be Fully Dead at this point (and only one is Mostly Dead).
All of which is to say: You can safely bet that all three Chrises have a role to play in Avengers 4. If Marvel is smart, it'll make sure all three share at least one scene together.
But three isn't enough. Pine completes the set, and he's still a Marvel no-show. It's not like he's allergic to blockbusters. Pine recently starred in A Wrinkle in Time, and he's been the J.J. Abrams-verse pick for Star Trek's Captain James T. Kirk in three movies now.
He even has a comic book movies connection, having played Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman. (And he's apparently coming back in the 2019 sequel, though we have no idea how that's possible.)
Pine has the chops for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And there are tons and tons of blandsome white superhero (and supervillain) dudes to choose from in the comics. He could be Adam Warlock, a character that's been teased already and who plays a key role in the Infinity Gauntlet's comic book stories.
Really, Pine could take on any number of roles. It doesn't matter which one in the end. But it's foolish at this point for Marvel to ignore popular opinion. The Chrises are A Thing, undeniably. Bringing all four together in one movie is something that will inevitably happen at some point.
Marvel is three-quarters of the way there already, and with enough weight (and money) to throw around that it can deal with Pine in "offer you can't refuse" territory.
So stop futzing around and pull the trigger already, Marvel. Hire Chris Pine. Give him an MCU role. Deliver unto us an Avengers 4scene featuring the full Chris four-pack. You have the power to make this happen, and I trust you to wield that power responsibly.
With love,
