Quick,Dear Utol: Week 1 Highlights Episode 7 what's everyone afraid of with the new iPhone X? That your loving partner will steal your information while you're asleep, apparently.
The new iPhone X will leave out the traditional fingerprint scanner in favour of its new facial recognition system, Face ID, to unlock the phone. Apple says the phone's infrared camera will map about 30,000 dots onto your face to accurately identify it.
SEE ALSO: The internet feels appropriately weird about Apple's Face IDThis has led people to quickly assume that your identity can be stolen while you're asleep, if your partner uses your face to unlock your phone. (It's not true. Your eyes need to be open and looking at the phone for Face ID to work.)
Still, several unscrupulous sellers online are tapping into the paranoia by marketing traditional full face masks as "iPhone X anti-identity theft" devices. Seriously.
We imagine it won't be long until this bizarre marketing tactic for the masks gives way to the next fad.
Besides, imagine having to explain to your partner why you've started sleeping with one of these on.
